Mathew Sydney

Mathew Sydney is a singer/songwriter/producer based in San Diego, California.  His music encompasses a broad spectrum of styles and textures from the haunting acoustic rock of 2018's 'Sans Merci' and the post-punk/alternative stylings of his latest project, 'Masks.'

A consummate entertainer, Mathew Sydney has been a composer, actor and visual artist since an early age.  His influences include classic rock giants such as Elton John, David Bowie and The Beatles; alternative artists such as Siouxsie Sioux, the B-52's and Dead Can Dance; and cutting edge contemporaries such as St. Vincent and Neko Case.

Sydney began performing at open mics in 2005 and by 2009 he was headlining shows in his native Florida.

A dedicated supporter of his fellow independent artists, Sydney was the producer and host of BlogTalkRadio program, Indie Florida  (2012 - 2014) where he featured music by and interviews with other artists.  His live performances are also structured in a variety show format, creating a showcase for audiences to experience other talented artists as well as Sydney's original music.

Sydney's body of music highlights his versatility as a composer with songs that feature elements of rock, jazz, folk, dance and psychedelia.  Currently, Sydney is developing material for a rock opera, Chosen, a telling of the great love between David and Jonathan as presented in 1 and 2 Samuel of the Bible.
